Betty was having the hardest time getting an ID because her fingerprints have been messed up from years of being a scrub nurse. It got to the point where the technician was getting irritated at her.
I’ve been doing a lot of hand-shaking because I don’t know many people here and I’ve noticed that most of these doctors have rough hands. I think the constant hand-sanitizing/washing and Arizona dryness is starting to get to me too because I can feel mine getting all flaky.
A great project for a biomedical engineer would be to create some kind of biodegradable second-skin you could heat wrap onto your hands and then shed after each patient. Ideally it could recycled and then autoclaved then used again.
